Filler is an injectable hyaluronic acid used to add volume, shape, and definition to facial features such as lips, cheeks, jawline, and more. Hyaluronic Acid itself is a naturally occurring sugar chain called a glycosaminoglycan. It lives in the connective tissue and helps to support the skin cells collagen and elastin.
In addition to sculpting, fillers are also used to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Sculptra, although not a "traditional filler," is unique in the way that it stimulates collagen production, allowing the skin to renew itself over time naturally.
Neuromodulators are medications injected into the muscle; they take 2-3 weeks to work and last about 3 months. Fillers, like Juvederm and Restylane, are hyaluronic acids inserted beneath the skin to replace lost volume or enhance features; the effect is immediately visible and can last up to 1-2 years.
Fillers can be used in different locations and layers of the face and body to enhance features like cheeks and lips or replace volume that naturally gets lost with age. Superficial wrinkles may have a softer filler injected just below the epidermis, the most superficial layer of the skin, while in order to work on cheeks or jaw, we inject a firmer filler just above the surface of the bone.
Used to fill/smooth lower face lines- nasolabial folds, oral commissures, marionette lines, etc.
Used in the mid face (ex. cheeks, temples, etc.) to sculpt and lift
Used to add volume, shape, and definition to lips
